  • Rapper Cool C to Face Execution Tomorrow for Murder

As decided 19 months ago, golden-age rapper Cool C, is set to be executed tomorrow, Jan. 8. The Philadelphia-based rapper — whose real name is Christopher Roney — was convicted of murder in the first degree for the shooting of Police Officer Lauretha Vaird, which happened in 1996. The shooting occurred during an attempt Cool C made with two other men, including his rapping partner Warren "Smooth B" McGlone, to rob a Philadelphia PNC Bank branch. Roney, who at the time was 26, fired his weapon as soon as Vaird walked through the bank's front doors. The incident marked the first occurrence in the city's history that an officer was killed responding to a call. The rapper has spent the last 18 years in prison and will face execution by way of lethal injection tomorrow. As reported, Cool C was originally scheduled to be executed March 9, 2006, but he was granted a delay by the governor of Pennsylvania at the time.

  • Eminem Criticized on 'Dear Shady' [WATCH]

Eminem recently released his new album "Shady XV" and, as a reaction, Young Zee has responded with a track of his own titled "Dear Shady." In the track, Young Zee questions Eminem and vocalizes that he was distressed he was not included in some of Eminem's recent music ventures. On Eminem's song "Fine Line," he shouts out Young Zee and The Outsidaz, saying, "Zee, you always supported me / You vouched, I will never forget that and / How you guys accepted me for me and Pace / I love you too, you slept on my couch." Zee's music video accompanying his track starts off with dated footage of the Outsidaz and Eminem doing an interview, where Eminem says, "I met Zee in New Jersey. I came out like a month later. Met Zee. Met the rest of the Outsidaz. Got down with the crew. You know what I'm saying? And the rest is history. It's like a whole family thing." After the interview clip, the track starts and Zee gets into airing his grievances with Eminem, stating that he felt left out and that Em did not truly have his back when he was arrested or when his house unfortunately burnt down. The lyrics read: "Let me ask you / Why you ain't come to my avenue / When you grabbed dudes for your rap crew / I paid mad dues ... Anyhow, my house burnt down/ I'm in Jersey now / You ain't care, you ain't even come around / I got locked up for selling quarter pounds down Bordentown / You could have looked out, you could have came and bailed me out."
  • Aesop Rock Releases 2-Track EP 'The Cat Food'

Aesop Rock is the latest to get a release out on the 2015 board with his new "Cat Food" EP. A quick two tracks, "Cat Food" and "Bug Zapper" further support the notion that quality is always better than quantity, as both tracks are polished and exciting creations from the Rhymesayers artist. The two songs were originally released as a 7-inch vinyl and are now available in a digital format via Rhymesayer's SoundCloud. The "Cat Food" EP is the first new solo material the artist has put out in some time, mainly focusing on making music for other artists. The tracks on "The Cat Food" EP are also available in an instrumental-only version, which most fans can always appreciate. November saw the release of Aesop's Hail Mary Mallon project with the album "Bestiary." Aesop Rock also was featured on Busdriver's "Ego Death" alongside Danny Brown. Aesop Rock produced "Bug Zapper" and called in the likes of Blockhead to produce "Cat Food."
