• Steve Angello Talks 'Wild Youth,' Size in the Park Expansion, Creativity in Dance Music and More with Pete Tong at IMS Singapore [WATCH]

In December, Steve Angello was invited to Singapore to be a keynote speaker at the International Music Summit, a conference specializing in dance music founded by Pete Tong. He sat down for a 40-minute chat with Tong during IMS Singapore to discuss a variety of pertinent topics in the dance music scene today, including creativity or lack thereof from new artists, his upcoming artist album "Wild Youth" and where he see things headed in the future.Speaking about his album, Angello dishes on the style and sound he is attempting with what will be his true debut LP."it's electronic music, its not dance music. It's an attempt to create a hybrid of all of the music I love and all [the] music I have been inspired by throughout all of these years, and I have made them into songs. I am not trying to do pop. A lot of producers are trying to go towards the whole EDM/pop clash, and this is different. It's more indie, melancholic, darker, but still some big songs," he said. The pair try and peel back the many layers on the difficult topic on creativity in dance music today and why there seems to be something lacking from many new producers.Talking about his comments to "Mixmag," Angello said DJs should pay their dues in clubs and that club culture is still important to dance music.
