  • INXS Guitarist Loses Finger in Grisly Accident; Tim Farriss May Not Be Able to Play Again, Even After Surgery

    INXS may have had its final retirement confirmed as guitarist Tim Farriss recently lost a finger during a boating accident, according to new reports from Billboard. The accident happened near his home in Sydney and the band's label Petrol Records confirmed that he has had two operations to attach the digit. The accident occurred on January 24 and Farriss has since been released from the hospital, according the label.

    Fun. may currently absent from the music scene, while Nate Ruess guests on major pop releases and Jack Antonoff dates Lena Dunham and plays the indie rock darling in Bleachers, but the "We Are Young" band is not breaking up. In the midst of rumors of tension in the band and two years after winning the Grammy for Best New Artist, today (Feb. 5), fun. dismissed rumors about band tensions in a lengthy Facebook post.
  • SiriusXM Posts Big Gains in 2014 Thanks in Large Part to Increased Automobile Sales; What's Next for Satellite?

    Things are looking good for satellite radio provider SiriusXM according to the 2014 report given by the company on February 4. The company now has a record-high 27.3 million subscribers, which led to a 10 percent revenue increase during 2014, totaling $4.18 billion, while net income rose 31 percent to $493 million and free cash flow rose 25 percent to $1.16 billion.
  • Phil Rudd Court Date Pushed Back to April: Former AC/DC Drummer Chris Slade Rumored for Grammys

    Phil Rudd's next court date, which was scheduled for the week following the Grammys, has been pushed back to April. According to Blabbermouth, the AC/DC drummer switched up his legal representation, which is why the review of the charges against him has been postponed. He was arrested in November on charges of threatening to kill and drug possession. A murder-for-hire charge was dropped. Former drummer Chris Slade has been rumored to step in for the percussionist this weekend at the awards ceremony.

Today (Feb. 5), Smith released the emotional clip for his new In The Lonely Hour single "Lay Me Down," and he's taking on the Church's stance on gay marriage - an issue near and dear to his heart.
  • Taylor Swift Tops Album Sales Charts as Ne-Yo, Charlie Wilson and the Bethel Music Group Debut in Top 10

    This week's Billboard 200 didn't reflect much in terms of new music but the Albums Chart has better news, introducing two new debut discs. Taylor Swift and 1989 are at the top again however, selling 71,000 copies. As we mentioned yesterday, that makes her only the second female performer to top the chart for at least 10 weeks with two different albums (the other being Whitney Houston). Also interesting: This week's stop at the top marks the first time since Lecrae's Anomaly during September that an album went to no. 1 with less than 100,000 in sales.

    In the midst of a tumultuous legal battle with his label Cash Money Records, Lil Wayne is tired of waiting to release new music. Following the release of his mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait 2 last month and ahead of the up-in-the-air Tha Carter V, Tunechi logged onto Twitter in the wee hours of the morning today (Feb. 5) to announce a free album for his fans, The Free Weezy Album.

    Dillinger Escape Plan isn't the most crowd-pleasing of options for the typical rock festival but they keep getting calls to perform, somewhat to the confusion of guitarist and founder Ben Weinman. He spoke to Music Times about writing music in 15/16, destroying both equipment and bodies on stage, and run ins with Colombian drug cartels in advance of his band appearing at Rock On The Range in Columbus, Ohio.
