  • Flying Lotus Shares New Song 'Medication Meditation' Feat. Krayzie Bone from 'GTA 5' [LISTEN]

Yesterday, Nov. 18, saw the re-release of "Grand Theft Auto V" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and among its many new features are 162 new songs across its 17 fictional radio stations. Today, experimental hip-hop producer Flying Lotus shared one of his contributions to the game's new soundtrack, a moody and intense track titled "Medication Meditation" featuring Krayzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, which you can check out below but the artwork above. The track is a stark difference from FlyLo's most recent album "You're Dead!" Instead of being highly complex and jazz-inflected, this is much more traditionally hip-hop, in no small part due to Krayzie Bone's wildly energetic verses. Being a Flying Lotus track, however, it still does not sound anything like your typical 2014 hip-hop single.
  • Lana Del Rey Wrote 2 Songs for Tim Burton's 'Big Eyes'

2014 has been a huge year for Lana Del Rey, appearing on the cover of "Rolling Stone" and scoring her first No. 1 album, and next month she will be capping off her stellar year with the premiere of Tim Burton's latest film "Big Eyes," which features two new songs from the "Ultraviolence" singer. "Tim showed her the film and she fell in love with it," screenwriter and producer Larry Karaszewski told "The Hollywood Reporter." "Women in particular seem to get the movie, and Lana really got the movie." Big Eyes tells the true story of American painter Margaret Keane (Amy Adams) whose work was credited to her husband Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) during the 1950s and '60s. Del Rey contributed two songs to the film: "Big Eyes" and "I Can Fly," both of which are written from the perspective of Margaret Keane.

Described by Tyler as a "random song" that he had "laying around," the track is a short blast of intense, obnoxious noise, which is exactly what we've come to expect from him. Tyler buries his voice underneath the siren-like beat, but his flow still sounds pretty spot-on.

  • Taylor Swift Dishonest, Sold Her Soul to Google: Billy Bragg

A few weeks ago, Taylor Swift caused a bit of a stir when she pulled her entire catalogue, including her recent platinum seller "1989," from Spotify, saying that the streaming service perpetuates "the perception that music has no value and should be free." Not everybody is buying Swift's story, however, and today, Nov. 18, British folk legend Billy Bragg posted a lengthy statement to his Facebook page explaining why Swift's reasons for pulling her music from Spotify are dishonest, citing the fact that her music is featured in Google's recently launched Music Key streaming service. "These worthy sentiments have been somewhat undermined by Swift making her new album and back catalogue available on Google's new Music Key streaming service," Bragg writes in the Facebook post, "which also offers listeners a free service alongside a premium subscription tier." Taylor Swift's "1989" has famously become the only album released in 2014 to have sold a million copies, with some arguing that her decision to pull the album from Spotify contributed to its strong sales. "If Ms Swift was truly concerned about perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free, she should be removing her material from You Tube, not cosying up to it," Bragg continues. "[S]he should just be honest with her fans and say, 'sorry, but Sergey Brin gave me a huge amount of money to be the headline name on the marquee for the launch of You Tube Music Key and so I've sold my soul to Google.'"

  • 9 Rock Albums Whose Producers Co-Wrote The Music

In genres such as pop and hip-hop, it's pretty much standard for a producer to have an active role in the album's songwriting, especially if they're working with a solo artist, but this is pretty uncommon when working with rock bands, who tend to write their own material. These nine albums, however, feature extensive songwriting contributions from their producers, even though they were made by rock bands.
