• Deadmau5 To Produce New Krewella Album

    After feuding on and off for the better part of four months, sources who wish to remain anonymous because the information is not yet public have informed Music Times that deadmau5 is set to produce Krewella's upcoming album. The teams have not decided on a name as of yet, but a few ideas being floated out there include When It Rains It Pours, Totally Real Album, Why Did We Do This and Are We Friends?
  • deadmau5, Kaskade Collab in the Works?

    After a busy Miami Music Week for Kaskade, which included a Redux gig at the Grand Central Saturday, March 28, it appears the "Atmosphere" DJ is reuniting with his longtime friend and past collaborator deadmau5 on a possible new track. A fan posed the question to deadmau5 -- real name Joel Zimmerman -- on Twitter, a medium he is active on, if there would be another collaboration between the "Strobe" producer and Kaskade. This new track would be the third track between the pair and the first since their iconic 2009 single "I Remember," which followed up the 'Strobelight Seduction' single "Move for Me."     It is official: Jay Z's move into the music streaming business has arrived and he is bringing a lot of his friends with him. At an industry event today at New York City's James A. Farley Post Office in Herald Square, Jay Z announced the launch of TIDAL with his 16 artist partners. The event was live streamed as Jay Z announced his plans for the Hi-FI service with Madonna, Kanye West, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Usher, deadmau5, Jason Aldean, Jack White, Daft Punk, Beyoncé, Arcade Fire's Win Butler, Alicia Keys, Coldplay and Calvin Harris.

    Music lovers planning on attending Summerfest in Milwaukee were so unhappy to see Paris Hilton on the bill that they launched a petition to get the amateur DJ taken off the roster. More than 4,000 people have supported the effort, calling Hilton's involvement "a middle finger to anyone who paid to go to this festival." Some of the more established acts for the event include Kings of Leon, Zac Brown Band and Kendrick Lamar, among many others.

    Bonnaroo has announced the daily lineups for the 2015 edition of the music festival, and each day is even more impressive than the next. This year's roster includes headlining sets by Tove Lo, deadmau5, Mumford & Sons and Billy Joel. Kendrick Lamar will also be featured. As per usual, Saturday and Sunday boast the best lineups, but Thursday and Friday are looking just fine.

    As deadmau5 quietly prepares for his performance at the Juno Awards tonight (March 15), his label, mau5trap, is continuing to put out new music from up-and-coming artists on the label. The latest comes from LA-based singer, songwriter Colleen D'Agostino, who released her debut EP, 'Collide,' through the "Strobe" producer's imprint. One of the songs on the six-track project, "Stay," features the production work of label head, deadmau5.

The main conduit for this has been his "We Are Friends" compilations that take tracks from new or underappreciated artists on his label or the newly signed and showcases one of their songs in a compilation. Volume 3 has just been released with tracks from the likes of Fehrplay, Matt Lange, Eekkoo, Pig&Dan and others.

    Legendary Toronto music venue Guvernment shuttered its doors a week and a half ago, and for the closing party it called upon local superstar Joel Zimmerman, known to the public as deadmau5, to close it out. The final hour was left to long-time resident Mark Oliver, but for the three hours leading up until that point, deadmau5 was given total control of the venue. Some intrepid fan recorded the full set on a device resulting in decent visual footage but excellent audio.

    Deadmau5 has a penchant for nice cars. Whether it is his recent Mclaren P1 or a Porsche he had for driving around Toronto, the Canadian producer caught the bug for sports cars and does not appear to be giving it up anytime soon. He announced on Twitter that he is now acquiring a new Lamborghini, the Huracan LP 610-4 and will be fitting it with his favorite car design: the bright and bold colors of Nyan Cat, dubbing it a "Purracan."

    Calvin Harris has become a successful artist not just in the EDM space, where he has dominated in his own right, but also on the radio, where label executives and A&Rs have clamored for Calvin-Harris-type, dance-pop, crossover hits. That success has led Harris to lofty sales, notably for singles, and a new achievement has just been given to the "Blame" artist -- or at least was supposed to be given to him. Calvin Harris went double platinum for his hit single "Sweet Nothing, featuring the ethereal vocals of Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine, but the plaque was delivered to the wrong address. Deadmau5 took to his favorite medium of communication, social media, to let Calvin know that he had some hardware waiting for him, via "Mixmag."
